Bring your dog to your Springfield Courthouse Elopement
[THE BLOG]
Heyoo, I'm Rachael (she/her)! I'm a Wedding + Elopement Photographer based in Illinois, helping tell love stories in Chicago, St Louis, and beyond. I hope you'll find some inspiration and helpful resources on this blog, whether or not you choose me to be a part of your big day.
Alexa & Jeffery came from Bloomington for their Springfield courthouse elopement! And they made sure to bring their beloved dog, Nova, with them.
Fun fact, you can bring your dog into the Sangamon Count Courthouse!
When planning their day, we made sure to pick an establishment for them to have a celebratory linch afterwards with Nova.
Obed & Isaac’s patio in downtown Springfield has great beer & ciders, burgers, the beer cheese!!! Be sure to ask for that as a side with your fries.
It was so fun planning a special day that included A&J’s family members, as well as Ms. Nova.
Courthouse Elopement in Springfield, IL
When you plan your courthouse elopement, it’s important to check with the county about when they host ceremonies.
In Springfield, IL, courthouse elopements are scheduled Monday-Friday, either at 11:30am or 1:15pm at the Sangamon County Building.
Ceremonies are held on the 4th floor.
Alexa & Jeffery’s ceremony was at 1:15pm on Thursday, June 18th! It was short & sweet. And SUPER sweet to have Nova there!!!
Be sure to sign your license during your courthouse elopement! Then when you’ve signed it, it will be taken back down to the first floor to be recorded.
Head downstairs to pick up copies of your license to make it official!
We headed to the Illinois State Capitol Building for family photos outside, then couple photos inside!!!
Photographing in the Capitol Building is also so fun! It’s such a beautiful space.
It is in fact free to photograph inside! Just be sure to get permission from David Brackett. You can email him at DBrackettJr@ilsos.gov.
After we finished photos, they met up with their family at Obed & Isaac’s for lunch! It was the perfect place to hang out with their outdoor patio so Nova could hang out with them as well.

Rachael Marie Photography values inclusivity and will never discriminate against your gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, body type, or abilities. You are wonderful, beautiful, and loved here.
I'll give you direction when you need it and space when you don't. I believe the best photos aren't always the ones where everyone is looking at the camera.
Sometimes they're the ones where your best friend is crying. Your grandma is laughing. Your partner is looking at you when you aren't paying attention. And someone is absolutely losing their mind on the dance floor.
Those are the photos I want to make.
I'm Rachael (she/her) by the way.
For the people who would rather be living the moment than posing for it.
Whether you have 10 or 100 folks witnessing your vows, are planning the big shebang or a small backyard party, or just want to celebrate getting through life with your best friend—I'd be thrilled to document it for you.
