Intimate guest list, lots of love, and the best mac n cheese I’ve ever had. Best day ever. Sarah & Kyle’s intimate wedding at Windsong Acres was a dream.
Their love for this wedding venue, paired with the love they have for their newly merged family, was felt all throughout the wedding day. We took the day slow, creating plenty of space for the couple to have quality time with one another. We celebrated their love with a beautiful dinner and then closed the evening by dancing the night away.
I loved being a part of their celebration and I’m so excited to share more moments from their day with you!
Windsong Acres in Quincy Illinois
Windsong Acres, an intimate wedding located in Quincy Illinois, is extra special. The farm was bought by a couple, Jeff & Shelly, with the intentions of restoring the property to its glory. They turned what was once scale house (where wagons of grain were weighed) into Shelly’s art studio. Over several years, they completed most of the work themselves and created the beautiful space that Windsong Acres is today.
Jeff is even a certified Koi Keeper, and there are ponds filled with beautiful koi near the ceremony space.
The care that Shelly and Jeff put into their property is what drew Sarah & Kyle to it for their wedding. The care, the charm, and artistry of it all made Windsong the perfect spot.
Their Intimate Wedding in Quincy Illinois
Sarah got ready for her wedding day in the scale house — now an art studio filled with stained glass & antiques. She got ready surrounded by family before opening a gift Kyle had given to her the morning of their wedding. Sarah & Kyle both exchanged gifts and letters before their first look.
The wedding day really started to kick in for Kyle as he opened Sarah’s gifts. One gift being a scrapbook of mementos she had collected throughout their years together. It’s a good thing she gifted him his own handkerchief to use for the day. 😭
More from Their Family Focused Wedding day
Sarah did a first look with dad, he wore a tie with a photo of him & her together from years ago.
S&K finally got to see each other. They read their vows, and let the tears fall, just before their intimate ceremony in the outdoor space at Windsong Acres surrounded by their people.
The light we had that evening was incredible, especially in an art studio that was so well loved.
Sarah & Kyle incorporated meaningful details to their day— remembering their loved ones who have passed, drinking out of their favorite childhood cups— sentimental details for a venue with its own history and sentiment.
What made this whole thing extra special? Three years ago, I had hung out with Kyle and Sarah at another wedding. Specifically, Sarah’s older sister, Kelly to Seth in 2022. As I was packing my stuff up to leave for Sarah‘s wedding, I realized I remembered taking photos of her and Kyle, newly dating, during the reception. I pulled them up before leaving and just 😭😭. What a beautiful full circle moment— an honor to witness & document another beautiful wedding for such an amazing family.
If you’re also a couple that loves big and wants ALL the sentimental details documented I might be the photographer for you. I LOVE hearing all of the stories and reasons why you plan your wedding the way you do.
