I love stories. IG captions don’t quite allow me to share with you all the beautiful details that go into my couples and our time together.
The Blog is the place to learn more about real love stories, real wedding days, and be inspired for your own wedding.
Heyoo!! Rach here. It’s no secret that I love my courthouse elopements in Springfield. Especially when they involve portrait photos at the breathtaking Illinois State Capitol Building!
Even though I’ve documented quite a few elopements here it never gets old as the setting is so beautiful, each couple has their own one of a kind love story, and it’s my job to photograph that love in a way that’s authentic to the couple.
That’s what brings us to today’s blog, where we’ll be talking about Jazmyn and Jake’s elopement! These two had an amazing elopement day, and an even more incredible love story that I just can’t WAIT to share with you all!
Before we get to Jazmyn and Jake’s elopement and portrait photos at the Illinois State Capitol Building I first wanted to take a bit of time to talk about what brought them to this point!
These two practically grew up together while both living in Rochester, and while they each had secret crushes on the other, it wouldn’t be until after high school that they began dating.
From there the two have built a relationship centered around the love they share for one another. Whether that’s through enjoying the simple joys in life like binging a new TV series together, or with how they handle conflict by focusing on their love and problem solving together rather than trying to find who’s in the “wrong”, the two have put an enormous amount of love, care, and effort into this beautiful relationship they’ve built together.Â
That special relationship they’ve crafted is what’s brought us to this incredible day that I get to relive here with you today!
The day began on the grounds of the beautiful Illinois State Capitol Building, where Jazmyn and Jake chose to have a first look before taking their elopement portraits. It was a perfect summer day, made all the more wonderful when Jazmyn and Jake saw one another for the first time. Their faces lit up and from that point forward their day was one of pure joy!Â
The two had a vision for the day and their portraits. They wanted a timeless feel to their photos while also having a classic romantic Hollywood aesthetic to the day.
I will never be over these gloves, oh my word!!!
With my documentary style photography and their epic choices for wedding attire, it’s safe to say we nailed that vision.
We took our time with their elopement portraits, enjoying the equally beautiful exterior and interior of the Illinois State Capitol Building. From there it was time to head to the Sangamon County Courthouse for the elopement ceremony.
Jazmyn and Jake’s specific vision for their elopement day extends well past the vibe of their portraits at the Illinois State Capitol Building.
The day itself is a perfect example of the working together to achieve the wedding day of both of their dreams. You see, Jake was more in favor of having a small and intimate celebration, while Jazmyn always had dreams of a large celebration. To do this, the two decided on an intimate elopement to start with a large reception to follow in 2025! Truly the best of both worlds, and a perfect showcase of how you can celebrate your wedding in ANY way you want!
Their ceremony at the Sangamon County Courthouse was sweet, simple, and beautiful. With only their closest family in attendance, it was an intimate and special moment for both Jazmyn and Jake. After their ceremony we had time for a few portrait photos before they headed off with their family to Saputo’s for a celebratory lunch to cap off the day’s celebrations!Â
I loved documenting Jazmyn and Jake’s elopement. From their portraits at the Illinois State Capitol Building, to the emotional ceremony in the Sangamon County Courthouse, it was an elopement that I couldn’t be happier to have been a part of!
