Moody Wedding at Arlington’s Springfield | Dani and Mitch
✩

✵
10 years after meeting each other while playing music, a first date sneaking into a concert together, and a midnight New Year’s Eve proposal led to THIS. Dani and Mitch got married at Arlington’s in Springfield, IL. A refurbished 1917 factory building turned wedding venue with contemporary art and moody historical vibes. SUCH a unique and fun spot for these two to start this next adventure together. This day was all the things wrapped into one, beautiful, lots of laughs, even more tears. A literal dream.
An Emotional Wedding at Arlington’s in Springfield, IL
Dani and Mitch’s day had a little bit of different flow from the start. There were no getting ready photos or pictures of rings, we jumped right into some group photos. Mitch got some laughs in with his guys while Dani posed with her 3 bridesmaids…. BUT THEN we added in her other 3 bridesBABES. Since Dani is so so loved by her ladies, she didn’t want to exclude anyone but also wanted to only have 3 friends standing with her during the ceremony. We love a wedding that has its own rules to live by!
After group photos… WE GOT MARRIED! The historic feel of Arlington’s creates such a great wedding day here in Springfield. The exposed wood ceiling and moody lighting really captures the story and emotion of the day. And believe me when I tell you how we all cried, all because Mitch started it while reading his vows.
Portraits of Dani and Mitch followed the ceremony, where we walked over to Dumb Records – an all ages show space. It was hot out in July, but also this is a special place for them (more on this below). I had them pose in front of this yellow vintage curtain. Threw on that flash and hell yeah did these two deliver!
Celebrating with an Untraditional Wedding Reception
We walked back to Arlington’s ready to eat and party. And if you’re a Springfield local, all I need to say is HORSESHOE BAR. Absolutely amazing and not something you normally see for a wedding reception. But Dani and Mitch threw out the traditions for the day and did their wedding completely on their terms. Which also meant having a first dance… but with friends! Because being alone on the dance floor can feel weird. So after a little bit, they had their friends join them on the dance floor to celebrate this moment with them. Then it was time to open up that dance floor to party the rest of the night!

Wedding Portraits at Dumb Records
Before I wrap this up, I wanted to go back and talk about our pit stop at Dumb Records for couple portraits. This location was a meaningful spot to take Dani and Mitch too. Both of them perform music at Dumb and they both met because of music. So this was a no brainer when deciding on where to take photos. Plus it’s just a block away from Arlington’s – a perfect quick walk to get some fresh air and have a moment alone with your new spouse.
Incorporating a location that’s unique to you is always a great way to spend some of your wedding day. This day is all about you two, so why not document it with something that ties you back to the beginning or a special point in your relationship!
This day was beyond amazing. The way their friends and family watched as they shared vows, and the love that was felt the rest of the night. Dani and Mitch really had the best day here in Springfield.
Arlington’s really showed off the moody and intimate feeling of this day, but if you’re interested in more venues that have similar intimate vibes, check out my article here. Or if you are searching for a large venue in Central Illinois with some character, I gotcha with this one! And reach out if you’re getting married – I wanna be a part of your day!
