Engagement Photos at St. Louis Public Library

Imagine this: one day you’re scrolling on Bumble, the next you’re planning a romantic engagement at Union Station in St. Louis to the love of your life. That’s how Gabriella and Evan’s story starts… well… kinda…Gabriella became too suspicious and Evan had to quickly pivot. He instead proposed in their kitchen (which is so intimate and beautiful)! Since these two live in Missouri, they wanted to hang around their stopping grounds, so we landed on engagement photos at the St. Louis Public Library and St. Louis Museum!
Dreamy Engagement Photos in St. Louis
August in the midwest is typically pretty warm, this day was right on track with that summer weather. So we first stopped by the St. Louis Museum for a few quick photos which was a really nice break from the heat. Plus the art created a perfect backdrop for these two!
Next, we headed over to the St. Louis Public Library – ALWAYS such a great vibe for engagement photos. The architecture, moodiness, arches, and windows are beyond beautiful. It all creates the most dreamy feel. This was a great spot to bounce around inside and out before I got some close ups of that STUNNING pear shaped ring. Like, just look at how it glimmers!
Engagement Photos in Public Spaces
As a St. Louis engagement photographer, I’ve got some experience snapping photos of clients while we’re out and about in public spaces. This can be a little nerve wracking if you’re not used to taking pictures while strangers walk past you or while staff lingers in the distance. I’VE GOT YOU. Here are some tips for your next session:
- Check the photography policy at your chosen location: Urban and downtown spaces often have some type of policy, even if it’s public. So make sure to check their website for info. For example, the St. Louis Library requires approval and scheduling for wedding, engagement, and portrait photography. Check out their specific policy and permit link here.
- Be mindful of other guests: Blocking entrances, standing in doorways for too long, or distracting guests isn’t the best idea. And it’s likely a staff member will decide to move you especially if it’s busy or stopping guests from enjoying their visit.
- Book your session during off peak hours/days: If you’d like less crowds, schedule your engagement session during the weekday or at an hour when it’s less likely for groups of people to be hanging out.
And when in doubt, you can always call the location for some info!
Finding that person you can spend the rest of your life gardening with, taking on ice cream dates, and antique shopping with is so worth it. Bumble def got it right with these two! I’m so happy I got to hang with Gabriella and Evan in St. Louis. It really was a great engagement session. Next up: their wedding at Old Peace Chapel and reception at Quail Ridge Lodge!
