Classy Engagement Photos at the Illinois State Capitol Building | Megan + Jordan

For Megan and Jordan’s engagement photos, we knew we wanted to maximize the moody and classy vibes throughout, and there’s one place that immediately came to mind when deciding on locations, the Illinois State Capitol Building in Springfield! The Capitol Building has been a favorite of mine for a while, and thanks to the impressive architecture of the space combined with the darker lighting it was THE obvious choice for Megan and Jordan’s photos.

Even though we were aiming for a moodier feel for the day, Megan and Jordan’s hilarious and goofy personalities kept popping in throughout the day. The three of us had SO much fun together, and could quite literally not stop laughing! These two have known each other since they met while teaching at the same daycare, and all the laughs and the inside jokes about Adventure Time have finally culminated in this sweet moment of celebration.

Engagement Photos Inside the Illinois State Capitol Building

Megan and Jordan’s engagement session began at the Illinois State Capitol Building, a building whose architecture is sure to leave you breathless the first few times you experience it firsthand! Even having documented multiple engagement sessions, elopements, and wedding portraits here, the space still fills me with a sense of wonder every single time!

The striking interior and moody lighting of the Illinois State Capitol Building made for the ideal setting for Megan and Jordan’s engagement photos. These two were down for ANY of my ideas to utilize the gorgeous setting around us, and with a few bouts of intense laughter in between the more serious moments we were having THE best time!

Our time in the Capitol Building ended with a kiss as the between Megan and Jordan as the building’s elevator doors closed in front of them, the perfect cinematic end to our time there!

Engagement Session in Springfield, Illinois

My fun with Megan and Jordan wasn’t over though, as after documenting their photos at the Illinois State Capitol Building we headed to a nearby park for the remainder of their engagement session! With a quick outfit change into some more colorful, summery clothing, this portion of their session had a completely different vibe to it.

The lush greens of the park combined with the warm summer rays of the sun to create a picturesque summer setting that I feel like I’m going to be looking back on CONSTANTLY as the temperatures drop this fall! What left me with an even stronger feeling of warmth and joy though was of course the intense connection between Megan and Jordan.

These two have such a radiant love for one another that just fully envelopes you whenever you’re in their presence!

I loved EVERY single moment from Megan and Jordan’s engagement session!
