I love stories. IG captions don’t quite allow me to share with you all the beautiful details that go into my couples and our time together.
The Blog is the place to learn more about real love stories, real wedding days, and be inspired for your own wedding.
Amy and Josh’s wedding at the Kennedy Estate in Lizton, Indiana was literally a DREAM! I feel like I say this about all of my weddings, but honestly I can’t think of a better way to describe this beautiful, emotional, heart melting wedding day. I had THE best time with these two celebrating their one of a kind love, and I cannot wait to share the highlights from their boho wedding with you all here today! First though, a quick shoutout to Amy for the incredible review. I couldn’t fit the whole thing, but here are some tidbits that I just about cried reading:
“Rachael was such an incredible person to work with! Literally from our first consult to even after the wedding, we’ve had nothing but a positive experience with her… I live a state line over, but I couldn’t land on a local photographer that I felt would capture the moments of our big day as well as Rachael did!… Great communication and you can tell that she really has a passion for what she’s doing and wants to do her best to help you as the couple to a) make it through the big day and b) enjoy that day! Because it’s supposed to be your day and she wants you to be able to celebrate it and remember it in a positive light. I truly recommend that if you need a photographer for the wedding to check her page out and maybe even slide in an inquiry!” -Amy
Amy and Josh’s wedding day was already off to a fantastic start when I arrived. That’s because Amy was getting ready for the wedding in one of the getting ready spaces at the Kennedy Estate, so we didn’t have to travel ANYWHERE once she was ready! Amy was ALL smiles as she put on her dress in the company of her gals, and her red shoes added such a cool element of color to her wedding day look!
Once ready we made our way outside to this gorgeous open field just outside of the Kennedy Estate, where Josh was waiting with his back turned for their first look. Both he and Amy were about to burst with excitement and anticipation! As Josh turned around he and Amy both let out the biggest smiles I’ve ever seen, and Amy even began to tear up a bit from all the emotion. It was SO sweet, and the perfect time and space to document some couples portraits.
We of course had to include their fur babies, Porter and Ava, who were a huge reason as to why the wedding was at the Kennedy Estate in the first place! Their dog friendly policies meant that these important members of Amy and Josh’s little fam could be present for their pawrents special day. It was then time for some quick wedding party portraits before the ceremony began!
Ava and Porter would make their next appearance during the wedding ceremony as they walked down the aisle alongside the maid of honor and best man. It was a beautiful start to the ceremony, but then came a bit of hilarity as one of the little helpers / ring bearers really didn’t want to walk down the aisle! Everyone got a bit of a laugh out of this, and then soon enough it was the moment everyone was waiting for. Amy made her entrance to the wedding ceremony which was taking place at the Kennedy Estate’s beautiful outdoor space. It was beautiful, heartfelt, and SO emotional! It was official, Amy and Josh were now newlyweds!
As the two were announced as Mr and Mrs for the first time, the song “Souvenir” by Bump of Chicken began playing. The song is one of the openings for an anime the two love “Spy x Family”, and has some really beautiful lyrics for the moment. I strongly recommend you read the translation as it really is incredible! From there we snapped some family portraits before it was time for the tea ceremony to begin.
This ceremony was SO cool, and such a beautiful way for Amy and Josh to bring their families together through tradition. This ceremony is a part of Amy’s family heritage, and as such she changed into a red cheongsam for the ceremony. The tradition itself consists of the newlyweds kneeling before their elders, offering cups of tea to them. If the elders accept, which everyone excitedly did, it means they accept the marriage! This was a beautiful inclusion to Amy and Josh’s wedding at the Kennedy Estate, and I’m so happy they included it into their festivities!
Next up was Amy and Josh’s reception, but before that got underway we opted to get just a few couples portraits out near this cute swing tree on the estate. It was a lovely moment for these two to share before the craziness of the reception got underway! Speaking of their wedding reception, WOW is the Kennedy Estate’s indoor space stunning! I was in awe from the moment I entered, and it’s safe to say I was far from the only one feeling this way. It was a wonderful space for Amy and Josh to celebrate with their loved ones.
All the pieces of their reception fit perfectly into place to create an evening like none other. Ava and Porter’s signature drinks were a hit, the food was SOOO good, the speeches were phenomenal, the dance floor was a riot, and the sparkler exit was superb! There really aren’t words to describe just how much fun this evening was, so I think I’ll let my photos do the heavy lifting for me!
I had such a fun time from start to finish at Amy and Josh’s wedding at the Kennedy Estate. These two really know how to put a wedding together, one that’s endlessly fun, deeply personal, and rooted in family tradition!
