Vintage Inspired Indiana Elopement | Sydney + Joey
✩

✵
Sydney and Joey’s plan: a courthouse wedding in Springfield, IL. But when Dad got injured, they pivoted and wanted to move the wedding closer to home in Knox County, Indiana. Another plot twist: there were no available ceremony appointments on their chosen day, AND the county over didn’t have their officiant in that week. WHAT ARE THE ODDS?
So Sydney and Joey’s family stepped into action. Sydney’s parents called their pastor to officiate for their Monday elopement. And Sydney’s mom decorated her vintage shop, QB Vintage in Vincennes, Indiana to get ready for such a beautiful intimate wedding. This day was what elopements are made for – spending time with their closest friends and family and loving every single moment.
Sweet and Simple Intimate Indiana Elopement
Sydney wore her grandmother’s jewelry while Joey wore cufflinks adorned with an engraving of their cat Saoirse on them. These simple details made the day so much more intimate and meaningful. Bringing those elements that matter most to them to celebrate their love with friends and family.
The shop was small but the perfect space for their Indiana elopement. The best space for these to join together in the dreamy and moody glow of the chandeliers before heading out to a bubble exit! We knocked out their group photos and a few couple portraits on the property before heading over to Pea-fections for a quick lunch.
Couple Portraits around Vincennes, Indiana
After eloping in the most sweet ceremony and enjoying time with their loved ones, I took Sydney and Joey to Knox County Circuit Court for some outdoor portraits. It was hot but we played in the sunshine and got some great photos! Then we finished up with some portraits at George Rogers Clark National Historical Park before parting ways after this wonderful day!
What to do When Your Elopement Doesn’t Go As Planned
Not every wedding or elopement follows the plan. When planning their Indiana elopement, Sydney and Joey had THREE SEPARATE PLANS before finding the right one that ultimately created the perfect intimate day they were dreaming of. Here are three quick tips to keep that panic from creeping in when things don’t work out exactly as planned:
DON’T PANIC! There is always another route that can be traveled. Breath and reassess.
Accept help. If friends and family are able and willing to help with locations, vendors, etc. LET THEM! You’ll be less stressed and have a great story for your day.
Focus on the end goal. The goal is to get married to your person. How do we achieve that and how can we incorporate as much as we can to create the best day as possible in the time we need? My article on how long to book your photographer for your elopement can help determine what can fit in certain timelines!
Sydney and Joey had always planned to have an intimate elopement, even if that meant a few different paths were navigated to get them there. And boy was it worth it! Honestly, everything fell into place as it needed to and their community showed up for them when it mattered most.
If you’re planning an elopement in Indiana, Central Illinois or beyond, let me know! Let’s tell your story next!
