I love stories. IG captions don’t quite allow me to share with you all the beautiful details that go into my couples and our time together.
The Blog is the place to learn more about real love stories, real wedding days, and be inspired for your own wedding.
Springfield Illinois has become one of my go-to towns for engagement sessions over the past couple of years in photographing weddings. Filled with history, beautiful architecture, and for my Springfield couples and myself, so many memories, it only makes sense that many of these amazing locations have become my favorite spots for engagement photos in Springfield Illinois.
In this blog, we are going to take a look at some of my FAVORITE locations in Springfield for engagement photos.
Located on the edge of Springfield, Lake Springfield lines the southeast edge of the city.
The Lindsey Bridge Boat Ramp and Lake Park area are some of my favorite spots to enjoy sunsets and easy afternoons with my couples documenting their love stories.
Between the trees that surround the lake, the docks along the boat launch, and some of the brick buildings that make up the public park, there is so much to explore for your Springfield engagement session.
Also along Lake Springfield sits the GORGEOUS Lincoln Memorial Gardens. These gardens on the outermost edge of Springfield Illinois make up over 5 miles of trails through woodlands and prairies. The Lincoln Memorial Gardens are the perfect location for couples who want some peace and quiet for their photo session. With the vast amount of space, there are so many great locations to sneak away from other people and document your love story surrounded by some beautiful nature.
On the furthermost west side of Springfield sits Centennial Park. Centennial Park is primarily made up of mostly prairie grasses and lined with trees, this is for sure one of the most beautiful spots to catch a sunset in Springfield. I love wandering with my couples for their Springfield engagement photos through the prairie-lined paths and exploring this peaceful space.
Washington Park is a massive park used primarily for recreation and one of my favorite places for engagement photos in Springfield Illinois. The park has so many beautiful spots to explore with its hills, woodlands, lagoons, parks and so much more. The west side of the park near the rose garden and the two man-made lagoons are some of my favorite spots to explore when taking engagement photos in Springfield.
If you’re still unsure of where to take your engagement photos in Springfield, why not stop by some of your favorite spots? There are so many unique and cute spaces throughout downtown Springfield that make the perfect backdrop for your engagement photos. If you do want to take photos at your favorite bar or restaurant, be sure to reach out to the establishment prior to your engagement session so that you know for sure you can take engagement photos there.
Okay, I know what you might be thinking, but hear me out! There is so much character to the brick exteriors of the buildings in Springfield, surrounding yourselves with some of these views for part of your engagement session makes for an awesome experience. I have a couple of spots I love to use for engagement sessions in town if you’re down to try something new. These photos end up being SO much fun to take and always end up being some of my fav’s from the album.
The Old State Capitol building in Springfield was finished in 1840 and built in a Greek Revival style of architecture. The building itself along with the lawn out in front of it is beautifully kept and one of the coolest spots to take engagement photos in Springfield. Rich in history the lawn and building itself create so many unique backdrops for your engagement photos in Springfield Illinois.
The Illinois State Capitol Building, much like the Old State Capitol plaza is rich in history and amazing architecture. Between the capitol courtyard, the brick sidewalks that surround the building, and the epic sunset views down Capitol Avenue, the State Capitol Building is an awesome place to take engagement photos in Springfield. If you do want to take engagement photos inside the State Capitol Building, the doors close at 4:30 pm on weekdays, and 3:30 pm on weekends. The interiors are just as beautiful, with its’ marble staircases and domed ceilings. and if you love the architecture that makes up the State Capitol Plaza, you will love the interiors as well.
There are SO many amazing places to take your engagement photos in Springfield, and so many great spaces to explore.
