M+ E’s Uptown Normal Engagement Session

HI HI HI welcome!! Rach here! I am so excited to publish my first ever blog post. It only made sense to blog a session that makes me smile every time I look through their photos. To say we had the BEST time at Megan and Ethan’s engagement session in Uptown Normal, Illinois is honestly an understatement.  We danced to their favorite songs, laughed our freaking butts off, and just had the best time together.

Megan even wrote the sweetest Google review after our time together:

“Wow. Rachael was seriously so amazing and a breeze to work with. We booked her for our wedding next May, but recently did our engagement session. My partner and I were both really nervous because we had not originally planned to get engagement pictures done, but we are both so glad we did. Rachael made us feel comfortable and we were able to find our own goofy and natural rhythm. I am so pleased with how the photos turned out and all of our friends have said how authentically she captured our humor and love for each other. Needless to say, Rachael is incredible and I am so excited to work with her more!”

Megan + Ethans Love Story

AGHHHHH I love these two so much, and they have the BEST love story.  Believe it or not, Megan and Ethan actually were dating other people when they initially met!  Later on when they both had gone off on their own, their mutual friends had them both download Tinder as part joke and part confidence booster, and of course they MATCHED!  But because they both weren’t super serious about it, they let their match kinda slide away.

BUT THEN, Megan and Ethan ran into one another one day at Jimmy Johns and recognized each other from Tinder. They hit off but Megan was like, “So I’m studying abroad next semester…” Ethan was not scared off by that. Their first four months were long distance!! That didn’t stop them. One thing led to another and before you know it they were planning their engagement session at Uptown Normal with me!

Engagement Photos at the Coffee Hound in Uptown

We started their engagement session at a little coffee shop in town called the Coffee Hound in Uptown Normal, Illinois.  The weather was PERFECT so we grabbed our coffee cups and headed outside to sit on the bench out in front of the shop.  One of my favorite things about engagement sessions in Uptown Normal, is that there is so much to do in the area.  Each storefront is unique and there are plenty of little nooks and crannies with murals and historic buildings making it such a great space for engagement photos.

After their engagement session we walked around Uptown and headed out to one of the local parks for some more photos.  We started at Connie Link Amphitheater and then made an outfit change before wandering around the park having the BEST time.  My favorite part of their session was hearing Megan’s laugh and watching how Ethan looked at her with this look of, “iloveyousomuch.”  These two love to have fun with one another, so when guiding them through their engagement session, I made sure to choose prompts for them to match their energy and embrace the way they love one another.
