I love stories. IG captions don’t quite allow me to share with you all the beautiful details that go into my couples and our time together.
The Blog is the place to learn more about real love stories, real wedding days, and be inspired for your own wedding.
Brittany and Patrick’s summer camp wedding at Illinois campground Camp Saukenauk was the perfect mix of romance, Lord of the Rings vibes and so so so many sweet moments with the ones they love the most. Brittany and Patrick somehow put together this beautiful wedding day in just three months. I can’t express to you how lucky I was, that we were able to plan their day together so quickly and that we just so happened to find each other.
I’m so happy to have been a part of their day, and I’m still crying over the kind words they used in their review
Rachael was the perfect fit for our wedding! Not only did she take the time to learn who we were as a couple before the wedding, she also helped us stay cool, calm and collected on the big day. She knew just how to get us in the proper headspace for photos, and was never in the way or obtrusive at any point. You can tell she really cares about the people she’s photographing!
As far as her pictures go, I have never been so impressed! Her photos are clear and well shot, and really capture the feeling and warmth of every scene. We really could not have found a better photographer. I highly recommend her services, you won’t be disappointed! – Patrick
Brittany and her wedding party got ready in a cabin at Camp Saukenauk all together. Their entire morning was so intimate and full of slow moments between Brittany and her closest friends and family. One of my favorite moments from the morning was Brittany and her mom getting ready in the same mirror. She explained to me that growing up, her sisters, her mom and her frequently shared a mirror to get ready. So to see them do the same on Brittany’s wedding day felt like a full circle moment.
Brittany and Patrick opted for a first look for their summer camp wedding day, which I LOVED for them. Their first look allowed the two of them to spend so much more of their wedding day together. So after spending the previous hours getting ready with their wedding parties and families, they met outside the cabins to see one another for the first time on their wedding day. Yes, tears were shed, yes, I cried, and yes, this moment is such a special moment from their wedding day.
We drove from the campground back to Quincy to take some photos at their home along with the tree they originally planned to get married under in their backyard. After this we headed back to their college campus to sit under the tree that B+P actually met under. They would spend afternoons sitting under this tree outside on campus talking about their days together and daydreaming of the future.
Surrounded by their loved ones, we headed to their lake front ceremony space at Camp Saukenauk. These two already cried it out during their first look, and spent a whole two hours together surrounded by family and loved ones, and yet, when meeting again at the alter, all the tears came back. The joy of having their closest friends and family with them and supporting them through this huge step in their journey was so beautiful. There was not a dry eye in the space.
After taking photos around some of their favorite spaces in Quincy, we headed back to Camp Saukenauk to make some new memories at their beautiful summer camp wedding venue. We spent some time exploring the campground and soaking in the scenery that originally drew them to the space. We stopped by the dock by a lake in Camp Saukenauk filled with lilies so B+P could have some time alone as newly weds and soak in everything that has happened so far in their wedding day.
The rest of the evening was filled with endless love, laughs, toasts and celebration. I will forever thank these two for inviting me to be a part of their love story and journey.
