I love stories. IG captions don’t quite allow me to share with you all the beautiful details that go into my couples and our time together.
The Blog is the place to learn more about real love stories, real wedding days, and be inspired for your own wedding.
Erin + Blaine’s Downtown Springfield engagement session last summer was everything you could have asked for in a session. These two love spending their afternoons with their dog Edie, hanging out at their favorite local brewery, and just spending a lot of quality time with one another, so it only makes sense that we would do the same for their engagement session!
Leading up to the session I always check in with my couples, get to know them and work with them to put together a plan for their engagement session. Erin + Blaine let me know that they wanted to showcase their wedding day colors *yellow & blue* and for sure wanted photos with their pupper Edie, but outside of that trusted me to take the reigns. Leading into their session with their guidance I put together an epic playlist that consisted of a lot of 70’s classics and other great rock music. Not only does this help my couples to feel comfortable throughout the session, but also gives them and myself a beautiful way to remember their session.
One of the best parts of Downtown Springfield definitely has to be all of the historic architecture that makes up the city. I met Erin + Blaine on the Illinois Capitol campus and we started off their session with taking photos with their pupper Edie. I always suggest having someone there with you if you do plan to bring your pup to your engagement session. This way they can take your pup home or for a walk while we take the rest of your photos and you don’t have to worry about them. We wandered around the Capitol Campus and had the best time together.
I always encourage my couples to incorporate a handful of things that really feel like them into their session. Whether that’s doing an activity together, going to one of their favorite spaces, or incorporating their pets, there are so many different ways to personalize your engagement session. Erin + Blaine love going to Obed and Isaacs for drinks and for Bocce Ball. So of course, we incorporated that into their engagement photos.  Erin’s parents (the puppy wrangler’s) were in town for the evening, and when the photos were done, we sat, talked, and ate a late dinner at Obed’s. We all sat and enjoyed that summer evening all together, and it made us look forward to all spending time together again at their wedding!
Erin + Blaine’s engagement session in downtown Springfield was a dream from start to finish and I CANNOT wait until their wedding day comes around and we can all celebrate together again! To see more love stories like theirs head to my blog page.
